This page contains vague but substantial SPOILERS for MAY THE DEAD KEEP YOU.
The following is a list of potentially triggering content in MAY THE DEAD KEEP YOU. MTDKY is a young adult modern gothic horror novel that touches on some heavy topics, and the last thing I want to do is accidentally trigger any readers! This list is always potentially under construction; if you’ve read MTDKY and you feel like I’ve missed anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at jbaguchinsky@gmail.com. MTDKY includes:
-Animal deaths and resurrections. For the most part these are natural or accidental wildlife deaths, although there is one mention of a bird being purposefully killed off-page. Most, but not all, of the affected animals come back to life. The only affected pet is a guinea pig; no cats or dogs are harmed (or even appear) in this story. Note from the author: I promise, there is nothing I hate more in horror than animal death being used for meaningless shock value. MTDKY deals with death, but I handled that theme with as much gentleness and respect as possible. Even small, short lives deserve to be honored and remembered.
-Related to above: One character collects vintage taxidermy animals.
-Stalking and related behaviors (lying, coercion, etc.).
-Drug references (cannabis). No on-page use.
-Underage drinking.
-Blood and gore.
-Violence, including mentions of domestic abuse.
-Mild sexual content.
-Miscarriage.
-Parental loss/abandonment.
-Character death.
-Character injuries/characters in peril.
-Strong language.
